Municipal Area Partnership Receives Award
Nominated under the Innovation category for its Intermunicipal Development Plan Template and Memorandum of Agreement Template, the MAP proposal was evaluated to be the municipal partnership that has helped to inspire action and change that has benefitted local government practice in Alberta.

The Municipal Area Partnership (MAP) model for intermunicipal cooperation, of which the Town of Carstairs is a member, has earned high praise from its provincial peers. Representatives of each of the MAP member communities accepted the 2009 Minister's Award for Municipal Excellence - Outstanding Award at the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) Convention in Calgary earlier this month.  About our Community
Carstairs is located in south-central Alberta, just off the Calgary-Edmonton corridor, and features quieter town living at its best. Our friendly, community minded town has become the choice of many commuters, a getaway beyond a noisy urban life; a safe and friendly place to raise a family. Carstairs is a growing community and like most small Alberta towns, has an active pool of volunteers. Carstairs boasts a variety of clubs, groups, and service organizations.

We are home to a finely maintained and challenging 18-hole golf course, Memorial Sports Complex, abundant parks and playgrounds, 28 treed site Campground, and Grain Elevator Tourist Information Centre. Just west of town is the beautiful Silver Willow 9-hole golf course. 2009 brings the construction of the New Library/e-Learning Centre partnering with Olds College, and the new K-4 school!

Welcome to Carstairs!
